New Year… Brand new hopes, right? But also that never-ending ‘New Year’s resolutions’ list! Maybe this time we should try something different. Instead of cleaning up the outside, how about turning inward a little?

Imagine, all year long a lot of information, thoughts, worries… They all accumulate in our minds. Just like a clogged pipe! That’s why doing a mental detox when starting the New Year is a great idea.

But how will this mental detox happen? Here are a few practical suggestions:

  • Disconnect from Screens: Phone, tablet, computer… Constant notifications, social media feeds… Turn off whatever tires your mind, for a while.
  • Connect with Nature: Take a walk in a park, sit by the sea, touch the soil. Feel the healing power of nature.
  • Meditation and Mindfulness: Even if it’s just for 5 minutes, close your eyes and focus on your breath. Try to stay in the moment.
  • Writing is Good: Write down what’s going on inside you in a notebook. Putting your thoughts on paper relaxes your mind.
  • Learn to Say ‘No’: Don’t hesitate to say ‘no’ to things that tire you and drain your energy. Protect your boundaries.
