Digital Parenting: New Ways to Raise Kids

Hey everyone! This new generation of parenting… It feels so strange when I think about it. It’s like we’re raising kids on a completely different planet. Tablets, phones, games… Everything is digital! So, how are we going to manage this?

There used to be kids playing in the street. Now they’re all in front of screens. We have to keep up with the changing world. But that doesn’t mean we should let everything go, does it?

Look, I’m a mom too. I want to share a few things I’ve learned in this process with you. Maybe it’s happened to you. Your child cries for a tablet, and you give it to them just to make them quiet. That’s where we need to stop.

Actually, the truth is: Setting boundaries is essential. But when setting these boundaries, you need to talk to your child, explain the reasons to them. Remember, prohibitions always backfire.

Screen Time: How Can We Control It?

Screen time… Ah, that famous topic! A nightmare for most of us. So, what should we do? Here are a few practical suggestions:

  • Create a Schedule: Set a specific time slot each day as screen time. No phones or tablets outside of these hours!
  • Offer Alternatives: Suggest activities like reading books, playing games, or drawing instead of screen time.
  • Watch Together: Watch movies and play games with your child. This way, you can control what they watch and play.
  • Be a Role Model: Don’t constantly play with your phone. Remember, children take their parents as examples.

Imagine, you’re doing a puzzle together, laughter fills the air. These moments are the most beautiful memories to replace the screen.

Remember, every child is different. Some want more screen time, some want less. The important thing is to find the balance. While telling them about the dangers of the digital world, also show them the benefits. For example, educational apps, online lessons… These are also part of our lives.

But are we doing everything right? Let’s never stop asking ourselves this question. Because parenting is a journey where the learning process never ends.

Perhaps the most important thing is to communicate with our children. To listen to them, to understand them. To enter their world. Because no matter how advanced the digital world becomes, love and communication will always be our strongest bond.

What do you think about this? Share your experiences in the comments. Maybe we can support each other and get new ideas. Remember, you are not alone!
